School Meals

Every day the children, from Reception to Year 2, gather in the hall to enjoy their school lunch together. The midday meal is an important part of the day. It gives the children an opportunity to develop their social skills. We would like as many children as possible to avail themselves of the school meal service. 

School meals are fully prepared on site by our award winning team; Mrs Beechey and Mrs Elson of Hertfordshire Catering. Our children are able to enjoy a hot meal everyday if they wish. 

From September 2014, school meals are free for all school aged children up to the age of 7. We really hope that everyone will take advantage of this. We know that you will encourage your child to try our nutritionally balanced school meals if they do not currently have them. However, we understand that some children will not necessarily like the options available and would prefer a packed lunch from home.

If you would like to introduce your child gradually to school dinners then please let us know which days you would like.

Please note: Half a term's notice is required if your child wishes to change their dinner pattern.

There will always be a choice of hot meal, vegetarian or cold choice (except Friday when the options are meat or vegetarian main).

We are a nut, chickpea, lentil, sesame and egg free school. No items containing these products should be included in your child's packed lunch. Please ensure you check the ingredients list very closely.

Special Dietary Requirements

We are able to cater for special dietary requirements including food allergies and intolerances and beliefs. You will need to apply for a Special Menu for your child via the Herts Catering website.
